You just moved in and you don't know how to get internet access? Then this is the place to be. Read this blog entry and enjoy the world wide web.
Internet with one device
If you'd like to use internet only with your computer or notebook, then you just have to plug in the LAN-cable (also called ethernet-cable) at the port on the wall and your device. If you experience problems with your internet connection, you might have to configure your firewall.

Internet with several devices / WiFi
If you want to use more than one device at the same time or would like to have WiFi, you will need a router. A switch or hub does not work! We have made good experience with the TP-Link (Archer C20 oder C50). Of course any other router should work as well. A big advantage of the router is that you don't have to log in again and again after a restart of your computer and can use your mobile/tablet in the WiFi.

Attention: Fritzboxes or other routers with integrated DSL-modem do not work. Various Netgear devices have problems in our network, too!
Currently we are introducing a new family of router-models, which have passed a first testing phase successfully. The new router models we recommend are: Mikrotik hAP lite, Mikrotik hAP lite TC, Mikrotik mAP lite. Note: the mAP lite has only one ethernet port which is required to connect to the internet. End devices can therefore only be connected wirelessly to this router model.
